A Connection to Nature

Interestingly, a recent study we conducted found that landholders who were actively taking steps to conserve biodiversity on private land had a kinship with nature. While each of the landholders we interviewed had different experiences that fostered a sense of kinship with nature, the landholders indicated that time spent in nature; outdoor education; environmental awareness; and the recognition of the value of the environment played a significant role in developing their kinship with nature. From this we highly recommended that we all take the time to get out in nature and connect with the amazing diversity of life and landscapes that are an important part of our planet Earth.
